The 10th INORMS Congress will take place from May 6–8, 2025, at the IFEMA Palacio Municipal in Madrid, Spain, hosted by the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) . Under the theme “A Sustainable Profession in a Sustainable World,” the event will gather research management professionals globally to explore topics such as open science, responsible AI, and transnational collaboration.
RM FRAMEWORK, which a newly launched EU-funded initiative dedicated to strengthening research management across Europe, will be presented at the INORMS Conference in Madrid. While still in its early stages, the project aims to establish a structured, sustainable training framework that acknowledges the critical contribution of research managers to research excellence and institutional success.
Led by Work Package leaders and project coordinators, this session offers an early look into RM FRAMEWORK’s vision, goals, and anticipated impact. Key themes to be explored include:
- The need for a more structured and better-recognised profession of research management in Europe.
- The development of a handbook to support the design of high-quality training programmes, alongside pilot trainings to evaluate their effectiveness for individuals and institutions.
- The creation of a quality label to promote standardisation and excellence in research management training provision.
- Strategies to build stronger networks and cross-disciplinary collaborations across institutions.
- The project’s potential contribution to the European Research Area (ERA) and broader research excellence.
As RM FRAMEWORK begins its journey, this session invites the research management community to engage in open dialogue by sharing ideas, expectations, and insights to help shape a more resilient and impactful research management profession across Europe.
